"Will I lose weight doing yoga?"

This is a common question I encounter and my answer is always the same: "Maybe."


Doing yoga regularly gets you to turn inward and examine the subtle changes that are happening on a physical and mental level. You become more aware of your body and mind over time. In turn, you may discover that doing yoga regularly helps you to make better choices in other areas of life or helps you to break out of unhealthy patterns. You may begin to notice that giving your body this sort of attention makes you feel joyful. Perhaps that in turn makes you want to eat better which you then notice you feel better compared to when you're eating garbage food.


Perhaps you notice that a number on a scale does not define who you are and that you can be a healthy, complete being without being consumed by numbers.


My hope with anyone doing yoga is that it creates positive ripple effects in many areas of life and creates self reflection.
